A man classified as a level II sex offender in Cayuga County was arrested on May 22 in Tennessee by the U.S. Marshal's Service after he was accused of violating New York sex offender registration laws.
Lawrence E. Hann, 35, formerly of 117 Janet St., Auburn, was arrested after an investigation by the Auburn Police Department's Sex Offender Management Unit alleged that Hann falsified a sex offender change of address form in January, the APD said.
Hann also had federal charges pending as a result of a federal investigation conducted by the marshals.
Police said that Hann is accused of moving to Tennessee after he stated on the address form that he moved from Janet Street to Jefferson Street in Auburn.
New York State sex offender registration laws mandate that offenders register any change of address with the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services.
Hann was registered as a level II sex offender after he pleaded guilty Feb. 7, 1997, to the statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl.
Hann is currently being held in Bowling Green, Kentucky and is scheduled to appear in Tennessee Federal Court on May 28.
