Quest for Section III crown begins

The Auburn boys lacrosse team has played its way into the No. 2 seed in the Section III Class A playoffs, beginning next week.

The Auburn boys lacrosse team takes the field before its final regular season home game on Tuesday at Holland Stadium. The Maroons earned the No. 2 seed in the Section III playoffs and will play Friday against the winner of Central Square and Oswego.
The Maroons will play the winner of 10th-seeded Oswego and seventh-seeded Central Square on May 30. The Maroons defeated the Bucs at home this month, 15-3, and also defeated the Red Hawks 7-6 in their season home opener.

Auburn is led by Connor Entenmann with 65 points (42 goals, 23 assists) and senior Bob Brannigan with 39 points (26 goals).

The fourth-seeded Skaneateles boys lacrosse team will play No. 13 South Jefferson Tuesday.

Junior Keith Buehler leads the Lakers with 39 points.

No. 11 Jordan-Elbridge will travel to No. 6 New Hartford Tuesday as Joe Poppe looks to improve on his 56 points. Senior Ken Bush has a total of 154 saves for the Eagles.

The Skaneateles girls lacrosse team looks to extend its streak of five consecutive Section III titles.

The top-seeded Lakers have a first-round bye and will play the winner of No. 9 Chittenango and No. 8 Bishop Ludden.

Senior Shannon Tierney leads Skaneateles with 76 goals nd junior Heather Mullen has 137 saves on the season.

Syracuse-bound Kelsey Nangle has 60 points while Jenna Lotkowictz is second with a total of 67.

The Lakers took first place in the OHSL Liberty League, going undefeated with an 8-0 record and an overall 13-5 clip in Sectional III play.

The Auburn girls lacrosse team earned the sixth seed in Class A, sending them on the road to third-seeded Cicero-North Syracuse.

Last year in the first round the Maroons lost to Baldwinsville 10-8.
