The Auburn board of education and superintendent clearly insult the people who voted "no" on the budget when they decide we were simply uninformed on what we were voting on. What is so hard to grasp about the concept that "no" means no?
I would like to commend those responsible for the beautification of downtown Auburn. At long last the lamp posts along Genesee Street have been turned correctly, and the black benches and flower pots and the brick sidewalks are very attractive.
The liberals in the media won't tell you that the reason why gas and food is so high is just because of the environmentalists. These goofy America-hating environmentalists and their allies, the goofy "greens" in this country, won't allow nuclear energy plants to be built.
Between the city turning off my water, NYSEG shut me off, or them trying to take my house away for delinquent taxes, I feel like I'm living in Little Russia instead of Auburn.
It's nauseating they way Barack Obama and Met manager Willie Randolph, whenever they get a hiccup or bump in the road, they say they are being mistreated because of their race. By pulling the race card all of the time, these two expose themselves as being the worst racists in the public eye in this country.
No high school election in the history of this country, no village election in the history of Asia, ever had a worse choice of candidates for president than this country's going to have next November.

Are you on some weird medications or something?
As for the "no draft", it is true that the people in now signed up by choice. The problem is most of them signed up not expecting to go into an illegal war, and they also did it for economic reasons.
If it weren't for the stop-loss "backdoor" draft that we have today, I'll bet you at least half would be gone tomorrow. "
cm wrote on May 27, 2008 3:40 PM:
There hasnt been a draft in 30+yrs- so those in the military have JOINED BY CHOICE!
those higher than you have the say-will we all pay billions --yes--no matter what! If we werent having the war, would we pay billions for something else YES but most likely NOT what we think it should be for, like schools, health care, roads, etc.
If the only thing your paying attention to is the war--then you are missing out on other bills (farm/immigrants) that are passing under your noses, with billions of dollars that we dont have for them either!
THEN LOOK AT:
your own little area, whats wrong and what needs to be fixed? If the city bigwigs arent addressing issues---how do you think those above the city counsel/mayor/senator/governor will??
Karl preaches against the churches--well from what I see its mostly them DOING something. the other groups are TALKING about doing something. You may disagree with what they preach but most of them are trying to better someones life!
I may not live there now-but 95% of my family does. I listen to their "town" gripes and I tell them as I state here-DO SOMETHING! Give the BS of Bush 10% of your time and give BS of your own mayor/city counsel/school board 90% of your time.
At some point and time, one has to cede and start anew. As Dr.Phil says "be the hero" step up and take charge.
from what I read-theres alot of backyards-across the USA-RIGHT here on this site. Change has to begin at home! "

When our government is doing wrong, it is our OBLIGATION to speak up and try to effect change. Parroting "Our Country is so Great, America Right or Wrong" propaganda speech is DISRESPECTFUL to those obligations which go along with the rights.
As for the people on the streetcorner by Wegman's - I haven't been in town at the right time to witness them myself, so my comments have to be limited. But, it sounds to me like the issue is not Freedom of Speech -- they are free to speak about whatever they want.
But if they are using megaphones and creating a nuisance and disturbing the peace -- not just once for a parade with a permit or something, but regularly, then that is an issue.
If they are accosting people as they walk or drive by, they could be charged with harrassment.
Likewise, the business about the children -- if you think it is an abuse or neglect issue, call Child Protective Services and have them investigate.
It doesn't matter that their message is religious -- the problem would be the same if they were out there blasting away about space aliens, or abortion rights or turf for the football field.
Re: Fly-overs -- I DON'T live there, that's the point. Also, these guys have orders NOT to buzz houses or buildings in residential areas, but they've been known to do it anyway. Just flying over is one thing, but flying very large aircraft low enough to barely clear the tops of the trees, literally feet about people's rooftops, is not acceptable. You may THINK you get used to it, and your mind may adjust, but your body never does -- that sort of thing on a regular basis is not good for the human body physically.
BTW, for the record, I support PART of the NRA and PART of the ACLU but not all of them, as they each are guilty, in my opinion, of twisting the interpretation of the COnstitution to suit their own ends at times. But in fundamental principle, I support both -- basic gun rights and basic freedom rights.
And THANK YOU to Angmom, for resolutely sticking to a positive message to everyone in the thick of this page. "

As I've stated previously, there is no hypocrisy like liberal hypocrisy.

Washington Post media writer Howard Kurtz reported on Monday’s front page that the on-screen feud between FNC’s Bill O’Reilly and MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann has spurred high-level calls between the top executives at Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation and NBC: "What began four years ago as a colorful feud between rival commentators, instigated by Olbermann as a way of drawing attention, has become a tale of bruised egos and secret maneuvering at the highest levels of two multinational giants."
Murdoch, FNC boss Roger Ailes, NBC boss Jeffrey Zucker, and General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt have all been involved:
Ailes called Zucker on his cellphone last summer, clearly agitated over a slam against him by MSNBC host Keith Olbermann. According to sources familiar with the conversation, Ailes warned that if Olbermann didn't stop such attacks against Fox, he would unleash O'Reilly against NBC and would use the New York Post as well.
Both Fox and the Post are owned by Murdoch, who complained about Olbermann's conduct in separate calls to Zucker and Immelt.

And I can assure you that if there are any soldiers going to war to fight on behalf of this country, the LAST PEOPLE I would want pulling triggers and pushing buttons would be Fundamentalist Christians! SHEESH!
A little too easy with justifying immoral actions and killin' for "righteousness' sake" are these people! A little too cozy with who "deserved" this and "What God wants", IMO! SCARY!
By the way, you know what I just heard on the History Channel?
YOU know what's the MOST SHOPLIFTED BOOK in the world?
THE BIBLE!!!!
And guess who's stealing those Bibles?! Well, it ain't atheists, let me tell ya!

Also, there is an excellent site called antiwar.com which I highly recommend for the REAL scoop. It is updated regularly with news and critical viewpoints you rarely if ever see in the "liberal" media. "

Don't get me wrong, I feel sorry for the brave people who have made sacrifices for the government and corporations by going into some bs wars - they were lied to just like everyone else. But you cannot say ANY of it was for defending our freedoms. We must never forget this.

First of all, I live right next to Wegman's, so I don't want to "go around"--nor should I have to.
Second--these people have their young children standing on the corner wearing placards. Let me state that again--THEY MAKE THEIR YOUNG CHILDREN STAND ON THE CORNER HOLDING SIGNS!!!!! IN THE RAIN!
And yes, last night was not nly chilly, but it rained for a spell--and these abusers have their kids out there like little slaves, holding up signs and enduring the taunts of passers-by.
Does not anyone see something wrong, immoral, or even possibly illegal about this action? I'm personally outraged by it! The only reason they get away with what would get someone else arrested is because they cry "Freedom of Expression!!!" like a shield against good judgment or proper child-raising. It is OBSCENE.
Luckily, the actions in Texas aganst polygamist pedophiles is showing that the tide is slowly turning against abusers who hide behind Religion to do their nefarious deeds. It's about time that this city moved against this "corner cult"--for the sake of the children! "

I ask a serious question--if Mark Palesh can get his knickers twisted about live music being played outdoors, why do we have to endure the assault on the senses from the megaphone-carrying fundamentalist crazies on the corners on weekend nights, when people just want to go out for a walk and enjoy the tranquility of the Friday evening? The work week is over, and here we have this disturbance of the peace by people who have no right to ruin the public enjoyment of the peace!
I have called the mayor to complain--who will follow me and help purge Auburn of this menace? "

Don't know about you brew1234, for someone with that screen name, it sounds weird. Parties during the week are quite common out here.

Many of the older houses do not have a drive-way, and people DO stare at you when you park IN FRONT of their house!
But there are also several streets such as lower ends of Van Anden and Seymour St or others in the west-end that are terrible to get thru when cars are on both sides.
I do hope the city does place signs for out-of-towners, which will cost dollars! Will they do that NOW or wait until after this years trial and the final decision is made? "
