Defending champs knock off Orange

Sophomore Christina Dove recorded four points and became the second player in school history to score 100 points in a season but the Syracuse women's lacrosse team lost 16-8 to three-time defending national champion Northwestern in the NCAA Championship semifinal at Towson, Md. Friday.
Dove had one goal and tied a career high with three assists.

Despite the loss, the 2008 campaign was the most successful in the program's history. The Orange finish with a record of 18-3.

Megan Mosenson recorded a hat trick for Syracuse, while Kristin Brady had a pair of goals and an assist.

Halley Quillinan finished with a goal and two assists.

Hilary Bowen led Northwestern with six goals. The Wildcats will face the winner of Duke and Penn Sunday in the national championship game.

Freshman goalie Liz Hogan had six saves for the Orange.

SU won 14 of 26 draws but Northwestern led in shots, 26-16.
