The Roosevelt Memorial Baptist Choir will celebrate its 36th anniversary at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 31, with an evening of gospel music performed by the choir. Family and friends are invited to come and sing along and enjoy an evening of uplifting and inspiring gospel music. There is no charge, but donations are welcome.

Tyburn Academy is hosting the Carnes & Barnes Circus Saturday, June 5, at Emerson Park. There will be two show times: 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Advance sale tickets may be purchased at Tyburn, as well as several local businesses. A coloring contest is planned for grades K-5 to win an elephant ride into the Big Top.

There will also be a contest to guess the weight of Susy the Elephant to win a family pack of free tickets. For more information regarding the circus, call Tyburn Academy at 252-2937.

The United Church of Auburn's annual chicken barbecue and yard sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7, on the church grounds at 77 Metcalf Drive, Auburn. The barbecue dinner is $8 and dinner service will begin at 11 a.m. Catered by Big John's Famous Chicken Barbeque, dinner will include a half chicken, salt potatoes, coleslaw, fresh baked bread and butter and pickles. Diners may eat in, or take out service is available.

• The St. Alphonsus CYO program will host a Father's Day Car Wash from noon to 3 p.m. in the church parking lot, 89 E. Genesee St., Auburn. The cost is only $5, and it makes the perfect gift for dad, brother, uncle and grandpa on their special day.

• There are also several other upcoming events from the St. Alphonsus CYO group. The group will host a chicken barbecue from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Parish Center, 89 E. Genesee St., Auburn. This event is take-out only, so stop by and pick up dinner for the whole family. Their resident chef/coach, Pat Mahunik, will serve up a half chicken, salt potatoes, coleslaw, baked potato salad, a dinner roll and dessert, all for $6.50.

• In addition, the St. Alphonsus CYO Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, at Cranebrook Golf Club on Canoga Road. Registration forms are available at the rectory.
