Local teams clean up in league

The Weedsport girls track and field team picked up four first place finishes in the OHSL Patriot National league meet Wednesday.
Ashley Edmunds won the 1500m (5:53.5), Kaitlin Hammersley finished on top in the shot put (28-6.5) and in the pole vault (7-6) and Katie Scarbrough scored 1,617 in the pentathlon.

Also leading the Warriors was Alyssa O'Bryan who took third in the 3000m (12:06.6), the 4x100m relay team finished third (59.3) with Chelsea Paquette, Katie Schlegal, Nicole Greer and Christy Quinn, Erin Daly placed third in the 800m (2:37.2), Daly, Alyssa O'Bryan, Ashley Edmunds and Amy Sanchez made up the second place 4x800m relay team (11:34.4).

Sanchez also took second in the 1500m (5:44.2) and second in the long jump (13-4.25), O'Bryan took third in the high jump (4-4) followed by Hammersley in fourth (4-2).

Hammersley took second in the discus (80-5) and Allison Roosa earned third (76-6) and Edmunds finished third in the pole vault (6-6).

Cato-Meridian took home three first place finishes with the 4x200m relay team (2:13.2) of Natasha Falter, Kristine DeLattre, Carolyn Gray and Jessica Brand, Aubrey Campbell won the high jump (4-6) and DeLattre also had a win in the discus (89-8).

Other success for the Blue Devils came from Tara Pickard who finished third in the 400m hurdles (79.8) followed by Autumn Bullard in fourth place (82.5), almost sweeping the 1500m Erin Annelt earned second place (6:31.7), Taylor Kacur in third (6:35.4) and Carolyn Gray finished fourth (6:52.6).

Annelt also placed second in the freshman 800m (3:06.9), Bullard, Campbell, Myers and Jessica Griffiths took second in the 4x400m relay (4:52.5), Griffiths also took third in the long jump (12-9) and Somer Stuter took third in the triple jump (29-0.75) and second in the 100m hurdles (18.4).

Ashley Leja picked up the only first place finish for Port Byron in the long jump (14-4).

Also performing well for the Panthers was the 4x100m relay team taking second place (55.5) with Mindy Meyers, Brittney Bigness, Leja and Kate Riley. Riley also earned second place in the 100m (13.8) and the 200m (28.0).

The 4x800m relay team took fourth (11:55.5) with Jenna Fronce, Felicia Darrow, Katie Wyckoff and Jen Locastro and Heather Kurtz took third in the freshman 800m (3:21.4).
