You can enjoy a night with the family listening to some great local music, eating tons of food and playing fun games to win prizes.
This weekend Majorpalooza will kick off its 11th year raising money for local charities. This year, the Majorpalooza team, comprised of a 15-member committee, will be raising money for the Relay 4 Life. Majorpalooza has entered to run in the relay and has set a goal to raise $2,000 for the charity.
“With gas prices these days,” said Chris Major, party coordinator and team member of Majorpalooza. “This will give families something cheap; it'll give them a break.”
More than 21 sponsors have chipped in to offset the cost of the bash, and the team will be selling raffle tickets, T-shirts and hosting a myriad of contests.
“There are several optional contests for people to get in on,” Major said, explaining that each vendor helps the cause and participants can attend for just the music and food or get in on all the entertainment offered.
“This party started in my backyard with 20 people and we decided we needed to grow,” he said.
Now the team is expecting three local bands, Jonny Bender, Motley Crouton and Child's Play, to entertain at this significantly larger event. There will also be drinks, hot dogs and hamburgers, as well as a jumping house and craft table for children.
The event has continued to grow and Major hopes it will keep on growing and raising money for the community.
