Memorial Day is just one week away and that means the unofficial start to summer. We're hearing from weather forecasters that this summer should be a scorcher, so now is a good time to plan accordingly.
Upcoming at Fingerlakes Mall, Steve & Barry's University Sportswear has released its new children's line.

Also, summer concert tickets are now available at FYE. Call 258-9285 today to check out dates and who's coming to your area.

The mall also has some interesting events in the works. The Fox Dealership's Car Show runs in the front parking lot for its “Sell a thon” June 9 through 16. “The Big One” sale will be held July 28 through Aug. 4. Then “The Big Used One” car sale will be held Aug. 18 through 25. Used automobiles in every style and price range will be for sale.

Bass Pro Shops Camping and Boating Classic will continue through Memorial Day, Monday, May 26. Attendees can check out the latest in camping and boating gear.

Call Bass Pro Shops at

258-2700 or visit online at www.basspro.com for specific information.

Each July, the mall hosts the annual Book Bonanza, one of the largest used book sales in the region. Last year, more than 80,000 used books, videos, CDs, DVDs and more were collected for the sale.

This year's sale dates are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 12, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 13.

Paperbacks and children's books are just 50 cents, hardcover books are just $1, with videos at $2 and DVDs starting at $2. A “Better Books” section contains better quality items in the $2 to $10 range.

Then Sunday is “$2 a Bag Day” with better books at $5 per bag.

The books are sorted into more than 60 categories, such as history, biography, religion, sports, science fiction and more.

General fiction books are sorted into categories by author's last name.

Donations of new and used books, videos, CDs, DVDs and more are now being accepted at the book drop located near the main mall entrance near Sears during mall hours. (Please no encyclopedias, textbooks, Readers Digest Condensed books, anything wet or without covers.)

For the price of one hardcover book, you can buy your family an entire year's worth of reading pleasure - so don't miss the fun and the bargains at the 17th annual Book Bonanza at Fingerlakes Mall to benefit St. Joseph School.

And a reminder that Fingerlakes Mall will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26. Enjoy the holiday.
