Members of Auburn City Council will give first thoughts tonight concerning the proposed budget for the 2008-2009 fiscal year.
Councilors, city department heads and City Manager Mark Palesh will discuss the budget during a city council work session. The session will be one of two budget-related work sessions scheduled for this month.
According to Palesh, today's discussion will focus on the general fund portion of the budget. Because it is a work session there will be no section for the public to be heard.
“We will go through the general fund, fund by fund,” Palesh said Wednesday.
The next work session will take place May 22, during which councilors will discuss the remainder of the budget. A public hearing for the budget is scheduled to take place June 5, and a vote is scheduled for June 12.
Today's council meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at Auburn Memorial City Hall, 24 South St.
Also on the agenda for tonight's meeting are work sessions on Auburn's comprehensive plan and alternate side parking.
