STOCKHOLM - Police say a St. Lawrence County man was fatally shot during a robbery attempt at his home in Stockholm.
Sheriff Kevin Wells says a 911 call summoned deputies to the home of 31-year-old Daniel Simonds around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday. Simonds had been shot in the torso. He died around 7:10 a.m. at a Burlington, Vt., hospital.
Wells says about three suspects fled in one or more vehicles. Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call the sheriff's office.
Wells says there was an altercation between Simonds and the intruders before the shooting. Investigators believe the dispute was drug-related. Other residents were unhurt.
