Winning numbers
Lucky track teams have an abundance of athletes to choose from. They can put a girl in an event and not worry if they have enough for a taxing distance relay later in the day or enough endurance to run in four or five events.
Moravia hasn't been fortunate in the numbers game this season but has, well, taken it in stride. The Blue Devils don't have enough girls to field a soccer team or a lacrosse squad - they would have a decent bench in basketball. But despite only having 10 members, Moravia has powered its way to a 3-2 league record and even won an invitational.
“Our numbers are down, but everyone is contributing,” said Blue Devils coach Jan Hunsinger. “They all have a very positive attitude - they all work very hard.”
