Kent Pitcher tossed a complete game for the Port Byron baseball team in a 5-2 win over Cato-Meridian Tuesday.
Pitcher had three strikeouts, one walk, while allowing six hits and no earned runs. At the plate, he had two hits for the Panthers.
The Blue Devils scored two runs in the first inning, but the Panthers were able to rebound and score four in the fourth.
“It was a pretty good game for us,” Panthers coach Felix Mucedola said.
At the plate, Tyler Quanbeck had a single, four RBIs and Matt Warren was 2-for-2 with two singles. Jake Bennett had an RBI while D.J. Helmer had two hits.
On the mound, Preston Dennison pitched 6 1-3 innings, allowing four earned runs and six hits. Andy Wegman finished the day with two strikeouts.
Port Byron (7-7) hosts Bishop Grimes Wednesday.
Auburn 10, Liverpool 7
Eric Conway went the distance to beat the state-ranked Warriors. Conway walked seven batters but also struck out six and gave up four earned runs.
The Maroons defense had no errors and offensively had 12 hits. Bob Buckley had three hits, Brian Brazee had two and Tim Locastro had a double with two RBIs. Matt Wild hit a home run for the Maroons.
“It was an absolute bomb,” Gamba said. “This was a huge win for us. Liverpool is a good team.”
Auburn (12-5 overall, 9-0 in league) travels to Nottingham Wednesday.
Moravia 9, Spencer-Van Etten 8
Dillion Langtry did his fair share to pick up his first career varsity win as he pitched four innings, struck out two, walked one and gave up five hits. Jeremy Stewart got the save as he struck out three.
Taylor Mackey had three RBIs and a two-run home run. Stewart scored three runs. Langtry and Joe Corson both had doubles in the win. Greg Pasho and Justin Stanton both had two hits each for the Blue Devils.
Moravia (12-7 overall, 10-4 in league and 8-2 in IAC) hosts Trumansburg Wednesday.
Lansing 15, Union Springs 3
Andy Klock and David Wilczek each had two hits for the Wolves.
Union Springs (2-16) hosts Dryden for senior day Wednesday.
SOFTBALL
Cato-Meridian 6, Port Byron 3
Ashley Thomas pitched six innings, giving up five hits, striking out four and walking three Panthers. At bat, she had two hits, including a double and an RBI. Amy Thomas was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Britney Helmer gave up six runs, sacrificed five hits, struck four out and walked two. Shelby Gilbert had a solo home run for one of her two hits for the Panthers. Melissa Deyo also had a triple for the Panthers.
Liverpool 5, Auburn 0
Jamie Bruno and Lauren Fedyshyn had one hit each but those were the only two the Maroons had all game. Defensively they recorded four errors.
“We paid for our mistakes today,” Maroons coach Bob Lee said.
In the pitcher's circle, Brittney Babcock allowed nine hits, struck out eight and gave up only two earned runs.
Auburn travels to Nottingham Wednesday.
Jordan-Elbridge 3, Skaneateles 1
Lindsy Geery led the Eagles with two hits and one run. Liz Caspari had one run, one RBI and a hit. Erika Peterson, Jenn Gasparek and Keelia McGuire both had one hit each with Sarah Fordyce picking up an RBI off a sacrifice. Geery, Caspari and Fordyce also all had one stolen base each. Gasparek gave up one earned run, four hits, walked two and struck out eight in the circle.
Alex Hughes, Emily Devins and Rachel Wise had the three hits for the Lakers and Devins scored the lone run. Erica Tardiff and Wise both drew a walk and Hughes stole a base. In the circle, Hughes went six innings of work, allowing three runs, two of them earned, with seven strikeouts.
Spencer-Van Etten 8, Moravia 4
Jessica Kehoe pitched a complete game for the Blue Devils, striking out two and having one hit at the plate, while also scoring a run. Hannah Mackey led things off with a home run. She ended her day with a total of two hits and two runs. Kaylee Langtry led the team with three hits.
Moravia (4-12) hosts Trumansburg Wednesday.
Lansing 6, Union Springs 5
Meg Murray had three hits for the Wolves and Jillian Thomas picked up the loss. She had two hits at the plate, as did Amanda Forney.
Union Springs (11-7, 6-5) hosts Dryden Wednesday.
Tioga 6, Southern Cayuga 2
The Chiefs' 15-game winning streak came to a halt as Felicia Allen pitched only two innings. She had an RBI at the plate for the Chiefs. Lindsey Doeing had a run in the first inning, but then in the third the wheels to fall off. The Chiefs recorded four errors in the field, giving up three hits and five runs.
“Everything just went wrong for us in that inning,” Chiefs coach Dave Hewitt said.
Julie Hewitt came in with two broken toes to try to rally them back, but was unable to. She did however strike out seven in the circle.
Southern Cayuga (15-1) hosts Candor for a doubleheader Wednesday.
BOYS GOLF
Weedsport 228, Cato-Meridian 252
Jason Ryan was the medalist of the event with a 43 at Meadowbrook Golf Course. Jake DeChick and Matt Short both show 44. Chris Johnson had a 47 and Cody Fabian came in with a 50. Drew Lane had a 52 for the Warriors.
Paul Barbagallo and Todd Wilcox both shot 49s on the day and Marc Walton had a 50. Chris Sperling put in a 51, Taylor Rollan had a 53 and Casey Clark had a 59.
Bishop Grimes 222, Port Byron 269
Andy Leary shot a 46 to end his day for the Panthers. Dan O'Hara had a 51 and Josh Malenick came in with a 55. Dan Wilkinson ended his day with a 58 and Frank Smart carded a 59.

Eric Hlywa led the Wolves with a 41 and Matt Cuff shot a 42. Michael Bean finished his day with a 45 and Austin Thomas carded a 49 as did Tim Morabito. B.J. O'Hara shot a 50.

GIRLS LACROSSE
Skaneateles 11, Westhill 5
Jenna Lotkowictz led the Lakers with three goals and three assists. Kelsey Nangle, Shannon Tierney and Maddy Morrissey all had two goals each. Lindsay Angelillo and Kat Pille both finished with one goal each. Heather Mullen had eight saves in the net for the Lakers.
Skaneateles (12-5, 7-0) hosts Christian Brothers Academy Thursday.

Moravia 96, Groton 27
Claire Hunsinger was one of many Blue Devils with four first-place finishes. She won the 400m (1:09.6), high jump (4-10), long jump (13-6) and triple jump (31-3).
Emily Dusseau won the 100 hurdles (18.2), 100m (13.2), 200m (27.5) and was part of the 4x100m relay (55.2). Also part of that relay was Alicia McLaughlin, Kayla Slater, Julia Babcock and Aimee Glenister.
McLaughlin won the 400m hurdles (1:16.2). McLaughlin, Kelleyanne McElfresh, Slater and Glenister took first in the 3200m relay (11:22.6). McLaughlin, Slater, Glenister and Julia Babcock took first in the 1600m relay (4:55.7). Glenister won the pole vault (6-0) and the 800m (2:51.3). Jen Cornwell finished first in the shot put (33-1.5) and discus (83.3).
Moravia (3-2) will compete in the Southern Cayuga Invitational Saturday.
Pulaski 92, Port Byron 42
Ashley Leja won the long jump (12-2) and was a leg in the winning 4x100m relay team (55.3) along with Brittney Bigness, Mindy Meyers and Kate Riley.
Riley won the 100m (13.2) and 200m (27.8), Cassandra Grome won the 100 high hurdles (19.1), and Tiffany Westmiller took first in the discus (74-7).
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Pulaski 82, Port Byron 56.5
Christian Cobb came in first place in the 3200m (11:12) and was part of the 4x800m relay (9:32) along with Steve Cuff, Will Rice and Adam Hawker. Demetris Milczakowskyj led the Panthers in the 400m intermediate hurdles (68.6) and high jump (5-4). Cuff finished first in the 400m (56.3). Travis Snyder placed first in the 100m (12.1). Robert Yeomans came in first in the discus (100.1) and Ryan Eldridge won the long jump (17-0).
Port Byron (3-2) hosts Cato-Meridian Wednesday.
Groton 110, Moravia 10
Logan Crandall had the Blue Devils two first-place wins in the shot put (43-10) and in the discus (115-7).
The Blue Devils scored two runs in the first inning, but the Panthers were able to rebound and score four in the fourth.
