Clarence Brown, the man accused of promoting prostitution and robbing migrant workers in Cayuga County, sank back into his seat in Cayuga County Court Monday morning as the jury found him guilty of two counts of burglary and one count of promoting prostitution.
After three days of trial and deliberation, the jury found enough evidence to convict Brown of robbing Mynor Vasquez after attempting to sell him the services of a prostitute on Dec. 31, 2005.
The jury acquitted him on a charge of robbery, and an unlawful imprisonment charge was dismissed after the jury could not reach a decision.
Brown could potentially receive up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced on June 16.
"This conviction sends a loud and clear message," said Chief Assistant District Attorney Christopher Valdina. "You can't target vulnerable members of our society or anyone else like Brown did."
