Auburn school budget wrong on turf, spending

Saturday, May 10, 2008 11:05 PM EDT

Before I get started on the slippery slope of reason and logic, unfortunately more times than not, it's considered a criticism.
I consider myself the skeptic. A person that habitually questions matters in general.

Having said that, apparently the news media reports all the hazards of artificial turf. There seems to be no question that it's dangerous. (Get it, it's dangerous.)

Student safety must be No. 1 priority. Is having turf the status quo?

Like most citizens of our fair city I don't have a clue of the function and the complexity of our city government, especially the school board.

I get the strong impression being a parent is a prerequisite for being on the board.

As usual tax increases are inevitable.

Apparently it's necessary to maintain your school's infrastructure.

To increase teachers' salaries, retirement package must be governed by the taxpayers' ability to pay.

My feeling is the school board has lost sight of a legitimate labor contract that should be negotiated not dictated.
