Hinman leads Warriors to second win this season

Tonya Hinman scored the winning run for the Weedsport softball team as they defeated Cato-Meridian 8-7 Thursday.
Hinman was 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and three stolen bases. Allison Chase and Taylor Roe both had one hit - Roe's was a two run home run. Roe also had two stolen bases and two runs, while Chase had a double, one run and two RBIs.

Jordan Roe pitched a complete game in the win walking two, striking out two and giving up seven hits while allowing six earned runs.

For the Blue Devils, Ashley Thomas and Amy Thomas both had two hits to lead the offense. Amy scored twice, recorded a triple with two RBIs. Ashley scored once and batted two runs in.

Chelsea Townsend finished the day 2-for-4 with one run and an RBI. Amy started four innings in the pitchers' circle with six strikeouts, four walks, nine hits, eight runs. Ashley tossed two innings, striking out five.

Weedsport (2-12 overall, 2-10 league) hosts Pulaski Monday.

Onondaga 8, Port Byron 1

Shelby Gilbert had a triple knocking in the sole Panthers run.

BOYS GOLF

Port Byron 230, Fabius-Pompey 238

Eighth grader Andy Leary led the Panthers with a 39 at Pompey Golf Course.

“I am extremely proud of how well he played today with the conditions,” Panthers head coach Steve Leary said.

Josh Malenick finished his day with a 45 and Dan O'Hara carded a 47.

J.T. Debois and Dan Wilkinson both shot a 48 for the Panthers, while Frank Smart finished off with a 51.

Port Byron (5-5) travels to Pulaski today.

Union Springs 229, Lansing 234

Matt Cuff carded a 44 for the Wolves and Michael Bean scored a 45.

Tim Morabito brought in a 46, while Eric Hlywa and Dan O'Hara both finished with a 47. Seventh grader Austin Thomas had a 53.

Union Springs (10-1) travels to New Hartford today.

GIRLS GOLF

Auburn 213, Liverpool 228

Medalist Meg Cahill earned the medalist of the match with a 46.

Cristina Camardo shot a 47 and Kate Tonzi finished with a 57. Marisa Ranieri and Virginia Porten both brought in a 63 for the Maroons.

Auburn (6-3 overall, 2-2 league) travel to Cicero-North Syracuse Tuesday.

BOYS LACROSSE

Homer 13, Jordan-Elbridge 8

Joe Poppe picked up a hat trick to lead the Eagles. Kory Smart and James Hohm both had two goals, while Smart also had one assist. Brian Belcher scored one goal and one assist. Josh Livingston also had one assist.

Ken Bush led the Eagles with 16 saves, while Connor Smart had seven grabs.

Jordan-Elbridge (6-8) travels to Skaneateles Tuesday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Westhill 21, Jordan-Elbridge 6

Kate Dungey led the Eagles with two goals Wednesday.

Emily Dillon, Kelsey Armani, Ashley Wheeler and Marge Bailey all had one goal while Allison Donahue finished with one assist. Kelsey Richardson led the Eagles with seven saves and Ashley Humphreys finished with one.
