Lianna May led No. 13th ranked Southern Cayuga softball over Union Springs 3-0 Wednesday.
May pitched a complete-game shut out, striking 15 out, giving up two hits, making this her third straight shut out. Kim Willis and May also had a triple. Juilie Hewitt and Jerilyn Lawyer both had a multi-hit game with a triple.

Jill Thomas and Amanda Forney had the lone two hits for the Wolves. Thomas struck out 12 batters in the loss.

Despite losing eight senior players the Chiefs have found a way to win and also for the ninth straight game allow zero earned runs against them.

“If you had told me this heading into the season,” Chiefs coach Dave Hewitt said. “I would have thought you were nuts.”

The three seniors Lindsey Doeing, Julie Hewitt and Kim Willis' energy has started to shine onto the rest of the team.

“They all are just believing in the system and the senior leadership,” Hewitt said. “They all play well together and get along.”

Southern Cayuga (14-0 overall, 9-0 league) host Groton Friday. With a win Friday they will officially clinch the division.
