Lakers girls still run undefeated

The Lakers girls track and field remain undefeated.

The Skaneateles girls track and field team (6-0) dominated Jordan-Elbridge and Marcellus Wednesday.

The Lakers beat the Eagles, 98-42 and Marcellus, 114-27.

The Eagles took the win over Marcellus, 84-53.

Christie Barnett led the meet for the Lakers with three first-place finishes in the 100m hurdles (17.9), the 400m hurdles (67.6) and as a part of the 4x400m relay team (4:14.7) with Julie Dmochowski, Alexis Mazzeo and Eileen Ford.

Dmochowski also won the 400m (61.1).

Ford was a leg in the first place finishing 4x800m relay team (10:19) with Christina Homeyer, Beatrice Walton and Carley Strods.

Also leading the Lakers was Ellen Meyer with two first-place wins in the shot put (29-1) and the discus (97-0) and Rachel Hosie who won the 1500m (5:01.1) and the 3000m (11:17.3).

Victoria Sakal, for Skaneateles, won the 100m (13.1) and was a part of the winning 4x100m relay team (54.2) with Nina Davidson, Carley Baulick and Cassie Berg.

Also recording wins for the Lakers was Grace van der Ven in the 800m (228.2), Madison Eckles in the pole vault (8-0) and Gabby Eckles for the high jump (4-10).

Pacing Jordan-Elbridge was Katie Darling earning three first-place finishes in the 200m (26.8), the long jump (17-1.5) and the triple jump (31-11).

Darling also finished second as a member of the 4x400m relay team (4:17.7) with Nicole Darling, Kim Foltz and Lyndsay Hollis.

“Both times for the 4x400m relay were exceptional dual meet times,” Skaneateles head coach Rob Tuttle said.

Hollis took second in the 400m hurdles (67.8).

“There were some really good races between us and Jordan-Elbridge,” Tuttle said. “Some personal records were set by both schools. It was a really good meet.”

As for the boys track and field team, Skaneateles beat Jordan-Elbridge, 73-67, Marcellus defeated Skaneateles 95-41 and Marcellus also beat Jordan-Elbridge, 99-42.

Leading the Lakers was Brae Kriever who finished first in the long jump (19-8.25) and second place in the 400m (54.0).

Skaneateles also had a first place finish in the 4x400m relay (3:41.7) with Sean Cooper, Patrick Homeyer, Calvin Davis and Sam Smolenski.

Smolenski had a personal best in his second place finish in the 800m (1;59.6).

Davis finished in third in the 800m (2:01.3).

Pacing the Eagles was Jake Griffin with a first place finish in the 400m (54.0) and a second place finish in the 200m (24.6).

Also running well for the Eagles was Jeff Donohue who finished second in the 1600m (4:48.6), in the 3200m (10:28.7) and as a leg of the 4x800m relay (8:51.6) with Mike Marrero, Donato DiRenzo and Greg Bader.

The other second place finish Jordan-Elbridge recorded was from John Flynn in the high jump (5-4).

The Lakers will travel to the East-Syracuse Minoa Invitational Friday.
