The third place, Skaneateles girls lacrosse team defeated second place, Cazenovia, 16-15 in Skaneateles Wednesday in the inner Liberty National League Class C match-up.
Leading the Lakers was Jenna Lotkowictz with five goals and one assist and Kelsey Nangle who earned four goals and one assist.
Also scoring for Skaneateles was Emma Hueber and Laura Trenti who scored two goals apiece, Bailey Saulsbury and Shannon Tierney contributed one goal and two assists each, Lindsay Angelillo picked up one goal and Maddy Morrissey finished with one assist.
Heather Mullen tallied 12 saves for the Lakers.
The Lakers are the five-time defending sectional champs and are trying to climb the standings towards another championship this season.
In that climb Skaneateles will visit first place, Westhill on May 12 after losing to them at home for the first time in seven years, 16-12 on April 15.
The Lakers (10-5) play another league game against fourth place Marcellus Friday on senior night.
