Why do the citizens of Auburn pay county taxes -- what does the county do for Auburn, buy our buildings and make them tax exempt? The county ought to be paying Auburn for all it does for the county.
Trivia question for The Citizen's readers: Why are the five male candidates exactly like Hillary when it comes to air travel? Answer: They all carry so much baggage they need separate planes -- one for them and one for their luggage.
Going on the past 20 years, all Citizen readers have agreed with Citizen editors that Murray Lynch is by far the best writer, most observant and clever. But in Murray's case, we must remember that old cowboy axiom, "There's never been a horse that couldn't be rode and there's never been a rider that couldn't be throwed."
In my opinion, after watching the Bill O'Reilly show, he is a more liberal fruitcake than I have ever seen.
The dumbest thing I ever heard is people saying that Rev. Wright doesn't speak for all the black people when he makes all those racist comments.

" quiveringthigh with a q, stick your quivering google-happy finger up your quivering hoohah, please. I'm not intersted in hearing your Conservative Bill O'Reilly-inspired crappola.
It's sad when frustrated, jealous wannabe's fixate on the people they want to be and try to bring them down to their level of insignificance, but hey., I'm used to that, quiveringsphincter with a q. Stay there in California, with your wacky tabacky and your long-distance sniping; otherwise I might run into upu in like, Wegman's or something and then we'd both be on the front page.... "
Karl with a K, I guess I touched a nerve with you! What do you intend on doing to me at Wegmans???? Sounds like a violent act on your part. I do plan on going to Auburn for a visit this year. When, I don't know, but if you want I can go to Wegmans and we can talk about the comment you made. Why do you get so defensive when someone opposes your opinion of your new found figurehead? Your response to me has no factual base to it; other than, you want to meet me in person. Are you some sort of tough guy?? I am led to believe that your frustrations are clouding your "free thinking" mind. You resort to name calling and threats because you cannot control your anger. It's like how a little boy throws a fit when he doesn't get his way. Are you really like that?? Maybe you need a little Anger Management class. Other than the fact I work very hard for the money I make and do struggle to make ends meet, I am very happy with my life. I sleep very peaceful and enjoy EVERY sunrise and sunset. Never taken for granted. I am very respected in my community. Maybe you should come out here and meet me at Stater Brothers. You are out of line Karl with a K. And I just laugh knowing you play in a band that inspired me 24yrs ago to pick up the bass guitar. I still think Ross is the best! I wish he was still in the band. "

They are lazy and not as respectful as I'd like, but (knock on wood), I've had no trouble with drinking, driving too fast, chasing girls, drugs, fights or any of the rest of it.
They are computer couch potatoes, it's true. But I can remember getting up in the middle of the night in summer to see why #1 son was up on the computer so late, and he was debating the war with adults on the New York Times forum. That one also finished writing his first novel at 14. He corresponds with a young woman out in Chicago -- he's writing the book and she's illustrating it. The younger one is a gamer and only sometimes gaming online; mostly he's just using a CD. So, after checking many times, I'm not too worried.
Guess I got lucky in some ways.
Glad to hear your wife is doing well, jlmsr "

Mine stays in an open room, the kids were never allowed to have one in their bedrooms.
I have parental controls set for the 9yr old. YET, last summer she heard a word about man parts. While I was outside, she googled it. The next day, I open an email report on "sites my child has visited" WAS dad and I ever so shocked! We called her to the computer, had her read my email, then clicked onto her visited sites!
She learned the true meaning of "parental controls" that day! We also had a long talk about if she wants to know something no matter what it is come and ask, and if she feels embarrassed with us, she can also talk to her much older siblings!
But NOT all kids have what she has-several open lines of communication. Along with several EXTRA eyes watching her!

I used to tell my older kids-I have allready done it--I know all the tricks-I may not always catch them instantly BUT I would catch them.
Todays kids are not so bright. They live thinking Us parents are as stupid as can be. That holds true for parents who dont care or simply dont want to be bothered. But I think involved parents are smart enough to "check-up". Congrats to your friend for being the involved parent.
Nature, yes, there are times to be a tad liberal too, depending on the issue.
But most of the time I had to be stern because of society today.
Many times I snuck out my bedroom window and returned before mom woke up. On friday nights meet an old whino we met walking the tracks at 3 am,at Washington St.,he'd purchase our booze for the weekend. Such good times! lol
BUT NOW --kids are raped, shot, killed!
Sickos put drugs in your alcohol. For sure if you can out your window some pervert/robber can get in!
Todays world is tooo VIOLENT.

I am back in Auburn because my wife had open heart surgery on Friday. I bought a condo in Ocala and my wife tried to get cleared by her heart doctor, he ran a battery of tests and told her if she left, she would die, so I flew home to be with her during the surgery. I am leaving again a few weeks then she will follow a few weeks after me. She is doing GREAT!
I couldn't resist throwing my 2 cents into the fray, knowing that it would raise a few eye brows,,,,lol.
It really upsets me that this school district is proceeding forward with the proposals. Especially when the economy is on the brink of collapsing.
I was shocked with the city's budget proposal and I told Quill and the council I would pubicly apologize to him if that budget was adopted.
If the school district followed suit I would do the same to Pabis and the board, however, I truly don't think that will be necessary,,,lol they are idiots and this budget confirms it.

If you had problems with Obamas proposed policies, etc. that would be one thing, but this kind of crap just makes you look stupid. "

It baffles me to death how we start as a nation with Jeffersons and Franklins and end up with corporate (term for lady of the nites - dont want t/b censored - ty) like Reagan and Bush plural. And by the way, I AM PROUD to be voting for Obama. I could care less if Hitler, Stalin, Bin Laden and Dick Cheney himself were voting for him--he's the only qualified candidate in this race.
McCain is too old, a frightening hothead,, has a "macho" complex, is a flip-flopper and an a$$-kissing panderer. Plus, he's got that nutty Christian preacher endorsing him---"OOOOH!!" (Actually that bothers me not--I'm more intelligent than ot vote/not vote for a candidate based upon what idiot likes them!)
Listen--why don't you just save me the trouble of writing it and admit that it's your own xenophobia and latent racism that makes you purport all of these flimsy, ridiculous, transparent excuses for disparaging his candidacy?
Just admit it, queenie--YOU ARE THE RACIST IN THE ROOM.

She and the other mom wound up following them one night and caught them smoking pot in someone's back yard.
YOu know what? A cell phone "to check on the kids" is an absolute canard--it's only as good as the trust and relationship already between the two parties! If you don't trust your kid already, and they're not worthy of it, no cell phone is going to give you any kind of insurance. It's an illusion. More often than not, you're just providing a method for your irresponsible teen to craftily finagle their way around your rules and mandates. "

WE are products of our environment. We are who we are due to people in our lives from early childhood. We are faced with daily choices, as adults WE get to choose our wants & needs.
My dad grew up in the depression years: 1. always put money under your mattress (banks could collapse)
2. always SAVE money!!
(no vacations, one bath a week/high water bills, extra blankets in the winter/save heating bill costs, McD's was out(generic food only, lots of chicken, beef allowed for meatballs on sundays),WALK to school 8 blocks away in blow zero/blinding snow weather to save GAS, 89.00 for a class ring are YOU NUTS!)
THERE may have been no less than 40grand under the mattress but WE were POOR!
MOM:
If you have IT spend IT, you can't take it with you when you die!
(to the mattresses!)
ME:
sliding scale leans closer to mom, with minor traits of dad!
1. I SAVE for vacations-a must to show kids other parts of the country!
2. waste gas? my kids WALK nowhere! (molesters could be anywhere)
3. Beef is in most meals, chicken is occasional. Eating out aleast 2ce a week.
4.scum child get into that shower(daily)
5. Banking: checks mailed on WED/direct deposit on FRI-hoping nothing goes wrong! lol
6. Need a toaster? no waiting for S&H green stamp saving here, off to Walmart right NOW!
7.$700.00 for a class ring ARE YOU NUTS!
Overall I save for what I feel is needed, and I spend for what I feel is needed.
BUT my next 20 yrs will need to push the scale towards DAD, I can never be as drastic as he was but I need to better PREPARE myself for MY lasting years.
No! I can't take it with me when I die BUT I might want to have some IF I LIVE!

I applaud ou for holding the line on this issue. There's no way in hell I would let my kid have a cell phone before the age of 16--and even then only with pre-paid minutes for emergencies. I've seen and heard too many stories of how they are used to subvert parent's supervision, and coordinate stories of where they were when they were supposed to be somewhere else! "

But worse, I dislike it when parents pierce their 4yr old boys ears or allow a 10yr old to get a tattoo!
Beauty pageants are OK if they keep it real--NO make-up. Especially nothing like little miss Jon Bonet Ramsey-makeup/ fake nails/ hair dyed--that is going way to far!
I thought my 9yr old was nuts begging me for a cell phone-because cousins and friends younger (6) have them??!!!! I said when you drive (16)--right now everywhere she goes she is with an adult that has a cell..if she wants to call cousins and friends she can use the house phone! totally ridiculas!
