Absolutely brilliant, hysterical and so professionally well-produced were the Auburn High School's Drama Club's of “Rapunzel Uncut” and “The Seussification of Romeo & Julie.” Did you see these plays?
What an outrageous spin! Surely the bard William Shakespeare himself is cracking a smile realizing the creative energy the limber Auburn cast put into his classic love story on the small backstage at the school April 24, 25 and 26. The Rapunzel cast - in colorful T-shirts, blue jeans and, yes, some even with blue hair! - needed very few props. Nor did they need a complicated stage set. Their dynamic acting and limber choreography were more than enough to keep the audience captivated.
The only (understandable) fault might be that I caught one of the actors losing his straight face and giggling on stage while the audience was cracking up at one of their lines in this hysterical take-off on Shakespeare's classic. You had to love it!
Allison Fennessy directed “The Seussification of Romeo and Julie.” David Fisselbrand directed “Rapunzel Uncut.”
When will the next AHS Drama Club production be on stage? I can't wait!
