State of emergency lifted

Cayuga County's state of emergency expired Sunday evening after heavy rainfall over the weekend alleviated the risk of fires from trash burning and other open outdoor fires.

The ban did not include barbecues, grills and other contained fires.

The state of emergency was enacted last Tuesday after several fire agencies responded to a large outdoor fire in Ledyard when a resident was burning trash.
