Chick's prison term delayed

John Chick will have at least another month of freedom.
The former county worker was supposed to surrender Tuesday to begin a 15-month sentence for illegally removing asbestos from a county building, but U.S. District Court Judge Frederick J. Scullin Jr. extended his surrender date to May 20, in a one-page order signed Monday.

The order did not elaborate on the reasons for the extension.

" TommyO, I agree with you, what goes around comes around, and in Chicks case its findly coming back to Chick. When it comes to Chick, people have been looking the other way for years, look in the POST Standard archives back about 4or5 years ago and read about how great he was. The guy will never get citizen of the year award. "

" All the whining & complaining in the world about John Chick going to prison doesn't negate the fact that Fearon & DeCaro should be going along with him. I have known John for over 25 years and firmly believe he was acting under orders from them. John was always a hard worker & very loyal to his employer. Although I don't agree with what John did for whatever reason I am very upset that the legal system in Cayuga County chose the look the other way in the name of politics. Remember this, what goes around, comes around, always.

" What a joke that is. They dragged out the hearings and now they drag out him serving his sentence. Even if they do have something on the others, get his lazy sorry butt to PA. "

" Maybe they are going to do what's right. "
