Bob Brannigan powered the Auburn boys lacrosse team the No. 7 team in the state, Fayetteville-Manlius, 8-6 Friday.
Brannigan led the Maroons with two goals while Connor Entenmann had one goal and two assists.
Mike Fandrich had one goal and one assist as did Andrew Chadderdon. Matt Hoey, Sean Hogan and Mike Tesorio all scored and Kevin Dyer had 12 saves for the streaking Maroons.
Auburn led in ground balls 34 today 25.
“Fayetteville-Manlius is a very talented team, a great lacrosse program and well-coached.” Maroons coach Steve Crosby said. “Our assistant coaches did a great job of executing the game plan today. Coaches Mike Losani and Matt Smith did a great job of making defensive adjustments and coach John Montone did a great job working on the offense. Of course, 28 guys contributed what went on the field today.”
The Maroons now start to focus on a hot Baldwinsville team. The Bees just beat 2007 Section III champion West Genesee.
“They are a hot team right now,” Crosby said.
Auburn (7-1 overall, 2-0 league) hosts Baldwinsville Tuesday at Holland Stadium.
