Readers of The Citizen's sports pages are probably familiar with Ryan Day's Orange Slices column.
The Orange Slices blog is a spinoff of that effort. Ryan, The Citizen's sports editor, will offer observations on the world of Syracuse University athletics in this space, and he loves to hear from SU fans on what they think about the state of athletics on the hill.

You can't do it.
Harrison is quiet and shy but generally lauded for being a good guy.
This came as quite a shock for me.
It will be interesting to see how this story pans out and how the NFL responds.

Top-ranked Syracuse travels to No. 5 Cornell in a men's lacrosse match-up tonight in beautiful Ithaca, NY.
Last season, top-ranked Cornell edged the Orange 16-15 last year.
This Central New York rivalry has reignited in recent years, as the teams have split the past four meetings, all of which have been decided by two goals or less.
Cornell ranks in the top 10 nationally in both scoring offense (8th, 11.44 gpg) and scoring defense (7th, 6.89 GA) despite having to replace a star-studded lineup heading into the season. The Big Red is also one of the best faceoff teams in Division I, owning a .591 winning percentage, which lists seventh nationally.
The Orange has been getting big performances by many players, including Watertown's own Brendan Loftus and Lowe’s Senior Class Award finalist Mike Leveille.
Loftus is fourth on the team in scoring with 16 points after having nine goals and three assists combined in his first three seasons at Syracuse.
Leveille ranks third nationally in points per game (4.44) and has at least three points in eight of nine games.
Being a Watertown native and an Ithaca College grad, I have loyalties to both sides in this one. This could be a good one. Let's hope for another tight battle.
Also, I know I'm a day late, but happy five-year anniversary to the 2003 national champs, the Syracuse Orangemen. I can't see the highlight of Warrick's block enough. It will never get old.
