Young children are the future of our communities, and there are many ways Cayuga County can come together for children.
Please join the Child Care Council of the Finger Lakes in our celebration of Week of the Young Child, April 13 to 19, 2008, as we recognize and support the importance of early learning for all young children in our community.

"Early reading skills are crucial for young children to be ready for school." I ask why? Doesn't the school teach kids how to read anymore? If we were to go back to when our taxes paid only for K-12 grade and we dropped the Pre-K would this really hurt our kids? In the end result I find that starting early has not made the finish any better. As most of the reports we hear say High School drop outs are increasing. So how did Pre-K help these kids? I also believe that if you want to put your kids into Pre-K programs then good for you and you should pay for it not the tax payer. So let's cut our taxes and eliminate programs that in the end don't work. "
