The Skaneateles girls golf team has a strong and talented trifecta of talent returning.
Krissy Ryan, Lee Ryan and Ellie Youle all qualified for the Section III playoffs a year ago and all three will be at the top of the leaderboard all season for the Lakers.
Ryan missed qualifying for states by just a few strokes and looks to make the jump this year.
The Lakers also have several newcomers who may play a role in improving the 8-6 record from a year ago.
Skaneateles has many girls that will serve as mentors to the younger players. All the junior varsity golfers moving up lack experience so guidance from team veterans should help in the long run.
The Lakers look to fight off rivals Marcellus and Westhill this year.
Auburn Maroons
The Maroons return all of their players and add a few new names.
Head coach Donna Goddard hopes several underclassmen who played last year to a limited degree will be utilized more.
Seniors captains Marisa Ranieri and Mary Benedict return along with seniors Cristina Camardo, Kate Perry and Jessica Pasik.
They have two key returning juniors, Megan Cahill and Minday Fowler, along with returning sophomores Katie Tonzi, Kelsey Helinski, Megan Arnold, Julie DiMatteo, Sara Miller and Danielle Ryan.
“We have a lot of experience returning this year,” Goddard said. “All four of our Section III team is returning so we go into it with much needed experience.”
Goddard is also joined by new assistant coach, Lenore Grillo.
The Maroons had a .500 league record and will set a goal of returning to sectionals.
