Deer population levels in Wildlife Management Unit 7F will be examined by a Citizen Task Force to provide information to the Department of Environmental Conservation.
Senior wildlife biologist David Riehlman of the DEC in Cortland will supervise the unit encompassing parts of Madison, Cayuga, Onondaga and Oswego Counties. Chuck Kyle of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga is running the meetings.
The goal of the Citizen Task Force is to establish a deer population objective for that wildlife management unit. The Task Force includes sportsmen, farmers, rural landowners, business, highway safety and environmentalists. Residents in that area are encouraged to contact members of the Task Force before April 24 with thoughts about the area deer herd level.
Task force representatives are Henry White, Jim Mills, Greg Smith, Tim Baker, Scott Green, Larry Ferris, Steve Wolweko, Eric Haas.
Contact: 635-3392, 652-6290, 440-4225, or 677-4630.
