BUFFALO - The state Division of Human Rights has settled its complaint with the developer of a student housing complex in Buffalo.
The division filed the complaint late last year out of concern that plans to convert a large residential complex into gated student housing would create racial segregation.
Under the settlement, the facility will include 126 affordable housing units for individuals and families and 528 units for students and faculty of Villa Maria College and other schools. All tenants will have access to a new pool, gym and other amenities.
Developer Mark Chason says the project was never meant to exclude anyone and praised the settlement.
