Bruno leads Maroons past Nottingham

Jamie Bruno led the Auburn softball team with three hits in a 6-1 win over Nottingham Tuesday.
Kelly Grinnell and Sarah Green each had RBIs for the Maroons. Green and Nikki Neagle both tripled while Lauren Fedyshyn, Sarah Wild and Liz Daniels all recorded hits.

Brittney Babcock pitched a gem by only allowing three hits as she sat down nine on strikes.

The JV girls also defeated Nottingham 18-2. Erin Gordon and Ali Van Giesen each had three hits with Van Giesen hitting a home run.

Auburn (2-1) travels to Henninger today.

BOYS GOLF

Southern Cayuga 225, Candor 258

Lewis Morse led the Chiefs with a score of 42 at Catatonk Golf Course. Dan Le shot a 43, Kyle Perez and Jordan Dean each shot a 46, Art Burt recorded a 28 and Casey Underwood shot a 49.

Southern Cayuga (1-0) hosts Odessa Montour today.

Manlius Pebble Hill 231, Port Byron 251

Andy Leary shot a 45 to lead the Panthers. Dan Wilkinson added a 49 while Josh Malenick and Dan O'Hara each scored a 50.

“It was just our second day out on the course.” Panthers coach Steve Leary said. “With the way the weather was today we just couldn't pass the chance to get out on the course. The kids gave a good effort and we hope we can build on this.”

Port Byron travels to Cato-Meridian today.

BOYS LACROSSE

Cazenovia 13, Jordan-Elbridge 7

Jeff Guadagnolo led the Eagles with one goal and one assist. Joe Poppe also had a goal and assist. Brian Belcher, Abe Patrick, Kory Smart, Brian Murry and Josh Livingston all scored.

Ken Bush had 10 saves in the loss.

Jordan-Elbridge (2-2) hosts Skaneateles Thursday.

BASEBALL

Candor 10, Southern Cayuga 0

Ryan Fessenden and Chris Aguilar led the Chiefs with three hits each.

Spenser Lawyer pitched four innings and allowed four runs.
