Central NY authorities want to know who is dumping kittens

Animal cruelty investigators are trying to find out who dumped more than 200 kittens over the last year along the same stretch of road in Onondaga County.
Casey Newton of Forever Friends Cat Animal Rescue says 37 kittens have been abandoned in the past three weeks in Lysander, just north of Syracuse.

Newton and investigators believe they're all coming from the same place because many of the cats look alike and most have eight toes on each paw. Newton believes the kittens are from at least eight different mothers.

SPCA cruelty investigator Paul Morgan says abandoning an animal is a misdemeanor under state law.

" Thanks, interesting. The only way to slow the growth of unwanted animals is to HAVE THEM FIXED. It's the responsible thing to do -- so do it before they breed. "

" Nice... kill the cats because pet owners aren't smart enough to spay and neuter their animals? Perhaps we should start euthanizing the homeless and unwanted children too? That is just being ignorant. Overpopulation of pets can be controlled if everyone does their part in spaying and neutering. Perhaps more vets should participate in free or low cost services. There are places for people to go where vouchers are offered for little or no cost spaying and neutering. I am also a believer in boycotting stores where dogs and cats are sold. If there is a demand for these animals, puppy mills will continue to grow rampant. "

" You know i like animals but with the shelters full to over capacity i do not understand why we have to save all the kitty's in the world. By saving all these animals all your doing is creating a revolving door. These stray animals should be euthanized and any extra money should be used for free neutering and spaying for people who can't afford it. Maybe then we wouldn't have a cat and dog overpopulation problem. "
