HIT: To the first true weekend of spring-like weather.
You could see the joy and relief on people's faces with a trip to just about any local park or even a walk down a city or village street, especially on Sunday.
For many, it's days like those that make suffering through the long winters worthwhile.
Hopefully, the spring-weather days will now start to outnumber the cold, dreary ones that are still quite possible this time of year in central New York.
HIT: To a strong run for the 2008 Home Expo in Cayuga County, which took place Friday through Sunday.
This year, the event took place at the new Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES campus, which was an ideal venue for this type of activity.
The expo was a great opportunity for people to start thinking about the spring and summer projects they'd like to tackle this summer. It also included plenty of information for people looking for all kinds of ideas on saving energy and helping the environment.
MISS: To the reported arrest of the former co-president of a Cayuga Community College staff union, on charges she stole some $10,000 from the organization. Authorities say the crime was carried out using an ATM card over a one-year period.
The charges, if true, represent a major breach of fiduciary responsibility and an abuse of power.
HIT: To the apparent return to dominance for the Syracuse University men's lacrosse program.
The Orange collected another victory over the weekend, preserving their hold as the top-ranked team in the country. This proud program had certainly slipped last year, missing the playoffs entirely, but it looks like the players and coaches have figured things out in 2008. Another national championship banner certainly seems like a realistic possibility.
