Auburn has long way to go to improve its downtown

Saturday, April 5, 2008 11:33 PM EDT

The Auburn downtown is much brighter now, due to the fact that someone has seen the “light.” Wow! What a great sight of improvement to finally see that the street-lamp posts are now placed, turned the way that they should have been installed originally. My compliments to whomever made the decision to correct those beautiful lamp posts now facing the traffic and pedestrians going through downtown Genesee Street in Auburn. I do hope that the rest of the lighting posts will be correctly turned to provide more brightness. Let there be light.
Unfortunately, Auburn always has to re-construct or correct the original plans of many projects. I also hope that the city administration will certainly take action on the deplorable situation of houses that exist along the main routes of 5 &20 west, going through the city; it certainly does not give a great impression to the travelers passing along these areas.

Another cleanup would be of the numerous abandoned/unregistered vehicles that adorn so many residences and empty lots. Again it does not help the image of our city. A time limit should be set for these abandoned junks to remain on those properties.

Now that steel is at a good market price, it should be encouraging to the Auburn city administration to collect these vehicles and profit from it.
