R&B artist Aulando Frazier will perform at the Fingerlakes Mall Saturday, sponsored by entertainment retailer F.Y.E.
“I am inspired by leaders such as Jay Z. Brian McKnight, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston and others,” his Web site says.

Frazier plans to set a trend for the independent R&B artist by funding his own national tour.

Matt Williams, marketing manager for sponsorship and events of Transworld Entertainment's F.Y.E. chain, said Frazier has performed at about eight dates in the tour sponsored by F.Y.E.

“We have been working off and on with Aulando for a couple of years,” he said. “This is his first solo tour.” He has performed mostly in the Northeast.

Williams said Frazier came to them via Local Eyez, at FYE.com. “Local artists can sign on to the Web site, which monitors their traffic.” Once they have a CD, F.Y.E. will promote the CD at its retail stores, at least on the day of the performance.

Frazier will be performing songs from his new release, “The Price I Pay for Being Me.” “Only I” is a ballad about love. In “Music Is My Life,” he talks about mistakes he's made in relationships and music - his true love.

He will be available after each performance, which will last for 45 minutes to an hour, to sign CDs and speak with fans.

Frazier was born in the Bronx, but lost his parents to a rare asthma condition. He then relocated to Westchester County, a suburb of New York City. There he mingled with music industry executives and was able to network at a very early age.

“It has been a rough road trying to follow my dreams of music,” his site says. “Many thought I just wanted to be a singer, but that's not the case at all. I want to be a teacher, a leader in this world that we call music entertainment.”

Being in a group didn't work for Frazier.

“Being a solo artist is great for me. I really enjoy it,” his site says. Frazier finds having the focus on him a learning experience.

Frazier is an accomplished pianist. He recalls sneaking in to play the piano during his guitar lessons.

“Who would have known that that instrument would be my true love?”

Usher, Arrested Development, Sugar Ray and Nelly are just a few well-known performers that Frazier has opened for. Guest artists who have performed with Frazier include Allan Ritter and ClassiQ.
