AURORA - Vaudeville was, at one time, one of the most popular forms of entertainment in the United States.

Just about everyone could find something that they enjoyed within the various unrelated skits that a typical show would hold.
Students from Auburn's Herman Avenue Elementary School chorus performed their own version of a Vaudeville-themed production for family and friends at the Morgan Opera House in Aurora Wednesday afternoon.
The production, titled “Fun with Vaudeville” was the presentation of the group's spring concert.
“It is the most amazing thing that the kids get to perform on a stage like this,” said the productions technology coordinator Deb Yelverton. “Everyone has worked so hard on this show.”
From a mirror mime performance by Regina Emmart and Abigail Moskov, to comedy with a bit of homework humor by Connor Finizio, guests were treated to a wide variety of acts.
Finizio's performance was titled “Our Very Own ‘Red.'” Mitchell Hogan seemed to have practiced quite a lot for his performance of “Watch the Diabiloa.”
While the chorus sang “Me and My Shadow,” Kierstyn Liddle, April Phillips, Ariel Sitterly and Cheyenne Wiggins portrayed two people with their shadows, through dance.
Various other classic tunes were performed throughout the production with an audience participation finale of “You're a Grand Old Flag.”
Yet, the performance was just one part of the afternoon for the students.
Arriving early in the morning, students were taken along a walking tour of the historic sites in the village of Aurora.
“It has just been a wonderful day for us all,” Yelverton said. “There was a lot of planning that went into this day.”
After walking through town, students made their way to Wells college and were treated to lunch in the Sommer Center building before moving on to the Morgan Opera House for their performance.
