THROOP - No one was injured Monday morning when a tractor trailer tipped over while driving on North Division Street Road.
According to the New York State Police, a big rig carrying recycled material was driving north and entering a turn when it tipped over onto its side. The truck, which was being driving by Carmen Notartomas, 42, of Depew, knocked over a speed limit sign and narrowly avoided colliding with a power line. No other vehicles or structures were affected by the collision.
Notartomas told troopers his load shifted during the turn, and police said wet road conditions and speed could have been factors. Police issued Notartomas a ticket for speeding, according to the state police.
The truck, which belongs to Twin Village Recycling in Depew, was loaded with slag, which spilled to the side of the road onto a grass clearing.
The non-hazardous, solid material is made of recycled metal and used for landfill, police said.
