Cost to fix Clifford Field clubhouse off the wall

Monday, March 31, 2008 11:45 AM EDT

I am not an accountant, but wouldn't it be less costly to hire more firefighters at regular pay than have the men and women receive time-and-a-half for working overtime?
When is the city going to learn it costs less to maintain property on a day to day basis than to wait until it is in total disrepair; $80,000 to fix the clubhouse at Clifford Field is totally off the wall. This isn't something that happened overnight. Doesn't code enforcement check city-owned property from time to time?If I let my house get that bad, it would probably be condemned. Doesn't the fact that we are pouring money into Schines and Kalets teach us anything?

It seems the council sits at weekly meetings and makes laws that aren't enforced and things they do a good job. Wake up and smell the coffee. My pockets are empty and I am sure I am not alone.

Another thing: A great deal of money was spent putting in fancy sidewalks downtown and now we are going to tear out the parking meters. How do you expect to do that without destroying the sidewalk?

" Bev,
I laugh/get angry, at such silliness in my area too-wasted COSTS.

5yrs ago a mile long sidewalk put in for 3 million dollars, they are tearing it up to widen the road!

Beautification on all medians, trees & flowers. Now they can't afford landscapers-so throw away the 1/2 million there.
the list goes on & on..

the biggest DAH in Auburn was spending so much on the itty bitty street in front of KALETS--add a nice fountain etc.. NOW gut an open to traffic!
That corner is one of the worst to be at without adding another itty bitty road!

People simply need to take notice and care what happening around them, especially when its comes to OUR wallets! "
