The Cayuga Owasco Lakes Historical Society has received a GET SET grant of $3,000 to retain the help of a museum specialist.
COLHS will secure the services of Joann Lindstrom to assist in developing a strategic plan for the society. The GET SET grant, from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency, is administered by the Upstate History Alliance.
Lindstrom holds a masters degree from Binghamton University in public administration and has more than 15 years experience in museum planning throughout the state. Her work will include an assessment of current and future plans, focus groups and the development of ties with other organizations in the region.
This new strategic plan will help meet the goal of generating new audiences for the museum, its exhibitions and programs.
The GET SET grants are one of a series of grants offered to help museums and historical societies strengthen and develop their institutions and work with their communities. These grants are designed to make it easy for organizations to access professional help and improve their institutions.
