Churches, schools holding raffles

Would you like to win a new car, $5,000, a riding lawn mower or two tickets to the PGA Championship? Now is your chance, as there are many spring raffles happening in our local churches and schools that need our support.
St. Hyacinth's raffle tickets for a 2008 Chevy Malibu are available by calling Dave at 729-8336, Mary at 252-7714, Ginny at 253-3803, MaryAnn at 252-3823 or the parish office at 252-7297. The cost is $100, which can be made in four payments of $25, to be paid in full by May 15. Only 400 tickets will be sold. Watch for this car to be displayed at various locations all over town.

The Annual St. Joseph School $100 raffle ticket drawing will take place Sunday, May 18. You could win up to 10 prizes, including the $5,000 grand prize. Only 200 tickets will be sold. To purchase your ticket, please call the school at 253-8327 or Kathleen at 252-0049.

Tickets for the Holy Family Fun Day raffles are now on sale in the parish rectory office between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Ticket prices are $5 each or five for $20. The raffle prizes are better than ever this year. First prize is your choice of either a John Deere Lawn Tractor or $1,000 cash. Second prize is a Nintendo Wii Game with a second controller included. Third prize is a $150 gas card. The winning tickets will be drawn at Family Fun Day set to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in the Holy Family school gym on North Street.

This day will also include a giant raffle table as well as food, children's games, a white elephant rummage sale and baked goods. Crafters will also be displaying their wares for sale. This is a fun day for the whole family.

The “Sports for Arts” raffle sponsored by the Cultural Arts Committee of St. Mary's Church will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, at the Knights of Columbus Council Rooms on Market St. The grand prize is two ground passes to the 69th Senior P.G.A. Championship to be held May 19 through 25, at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester. This prize has a value of more than $500.

In addition, there are many more sports and entertainment prizes. Tickets are $10 each or three for $25 and may be purchased at the Knights of Columbus Council Rooms, at Balloon's Restaurant on Washington Street or at St. Mary's Parish Office by calling 252-9545.

In other news:

€ The Holy Family Catholic Shop has many new gift items. Stop in from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday mornings, 10 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesday mornings or from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evenings.

€ The 17th annual Book Bonanza to benefit St. Joseph School will be held at the Fingerlakes Mall July 12 and 13. Paperbacks and children's books will cost 50 cents; hardcovers $1, and there will also be a “better books” section. Donations of new and used, videos, CDs, DVDs and audio books are now being accepted at the book drop located near the Fingerlakes Mall main entrance near Sears. Call 224-3941 for more information.

€ Eucharistic Adoration is held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, at St. Francis of Assisi Church Adoration Chapel on Clark Street. Everyone is welcome to spend some quiet time with our Lord. For more information, call the rectory office at 252-7593 or MaryAnn at 364-8778.

Additionally at St. Francis, congratulations and best wishes go out to Lee Gaylo who is retiring after many years as the secretary at St. Francis, along with their organist Brian Techman, who is leaving for a job promotion in another field. A coffee hour will be held in their honor from 5 to 8 p.m. today, following the 4 p.m. Mass. Best wishes to you both.

€ The St. Francis/St. Hyacinth's Cluster will celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, March 30. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. followed by Exposition and then Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered at 1:30 p.m. Adoration will be concluded with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3 p.m., the Rosary and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Everyone is welcome.
