This is an open letter to the Cayuga County Legislature. I am an election inspector and I am writing on behalf of myself and the other election inspectors in this county. We worked the primary on Feb. 5 and as of today, March 24, we still have not received our paychecks. From what I hear through “the grapevine,” we'll be lucky to receive our pay by the first week of April.
Why is this so? I have three theories:
1. The legislators consider our work so unimportant, that paying us doesn't come up on the radar screen.
2. The budget is in such dire straits that they are debating various ways to raise the necessary money. Maybe they are debating on whether to hold a tag sale, a bake sale or maybe even a benefit pasta dinner.
3. My third theory is because most election inspectors are middle aged women. They just don't think that we are important enough to pay in a timely manner. After all, they feel, what can these women do -- complain?
That is exactly what I am doing on behalf of all the election inspectors. We provide a necessary service and we deserve the dignity of being paid for our labor in a timely fashion.
We did our job, gentlemen, when do you plan on doing yours?

By the way, the budget is in dire straits because of in-effectial leadership, bad decisions concerning workers and last but not least "Asbestosgate" In my opinion both John Chick's boss & our county chairman should held accountable & stand trial. It is a common opinion in our community that these "guys" were aware of John's activities that's why the county is being sued. How much of the taxpayers money will this cost? Good luck RoseMarie!
