While there's still some theater to see from the winter season, there are a lot of groups preparing for their spring productions with auditions, fundraisers and performances.
Syracuse Stage continues its run of “The Bomb-itty of Errors,” a hip-hop interpretation of the Shakespeare comedy, through April 2. Meanwhile, the Syracuse University Drama Department production of the comedia classic, “Servant of Two Masters” runs through this weekend and the department's First Year Players will present “Fame” April 2, 3 and 4.
Stage has also announced that tickets are available for a return of the mega-hit, “Menopause The Musical.” That show will see a limited five-week run beginning May 27. Call the box office for any of these at 443-3275.
A pair of Rochester groups have shows up this weekend as well with Greater Rochester Repertory Companies staging
“A Murder is Announced,” (585) 624-8360; and the newly formed Black Sheep Theatre Coalition, (585) 746-7616, will present Ibsen's satiric “An Enemy of the People.”
Ithaca's Kitchen Theatre plays Harold Pinter's “Old Times” through April 13. Pinter is one of a handful of Nobel Prize winners whose primary output was for the theater. “Old Times” stands out as an impressive body of work. Call (607) 272-0403 for tickets or information.

Appleseed will host two nights of Improv games with “Don't Feed The Actors!” - an improvisational troupe made up of some of Appleseed's regular performers - at 8 p.m. March 28 and 29,

Closer to home, the Auburn Players Community Theater will present Neil Simon's “Laughter on the 23rd Floor,” April 11 to 20 in the Irene Bisgrove Theater at Cayuga Community College. The group is also holding auditions for “The Pajama Game” April 6 and 7, time and place to be announced. If you are 16 years old or older, brush off those character shoes and prepare 16 bars of your favorite show tune. For more information, call Dia at 253-6840. Exact rehearsal schedules will vary depending on the size of the part. A $15 participation fee will be required from each cast participant.
Cortland Repertory Theatre will hold auditions, by appointment, for its upcoming 37th annual summer season. Auditions will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Homer High School, 80 S. West St. (Route 281), Exit 13 off Route 81 in Homer. Productions include: “8-Track: Sounds of the '70s,” a revue of 1970s music; “Leading Ladies,” a new comedy/farce by Ken Ludwig; Agatha Christie's mystery “The Mousetrap;” The musical comedy “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas;” “A Few Good Men,” the military courtroom drama by Aaron Sorkin, and “Johnny Guitar,” a new musical comedy send-up based on the Joan Crawford classic western.
Seneca Community Players will hold a fundraising event at noon Sunday, April 6, at Buon Amici's in Seneca Falls. The Greater Finger Lakes Jazz Orchestra will perform. The cost of the event is $25 or $20 for SCP members.
