"I appreciate the value of a team effort," McIntosh said Tuesday. "I think this will be a great way to do that."
He added that he will likely run to hold the seat come November.
Born in Little Falls, McIntosh was raised in the Auburn area from the age of seven. He was in the Marine Corps for four years and served in Desert Storm for 13 months. He has also been a member of the New York National Guard and the U.S. Naval Reserve, and he served in Kuwait with the Naval Reserve in 2003.
McIntosh currently works with Omni Services as a sales engineer. He lives in Auburn with his wife and two children, and volunteers with youth soccer and football programs.
"I haven't been very involved with politics (in the past), and I think that can be a benefit," McIntosh said.
