Four on the Floor wants to make your feet move.
Playing a mix of classic rock and rhythm and blues, the band has been turning in sets at stages in the Auburn area for eight years. They rely on a range of covers from Led Zeppelin to Delbert McClinton to Wilson Pickett to rock their crowds.

“We're tending to go more classic rock these days just because we're getting old and we better do it now,” said bass player Bill Brownlee with a laugh.

Brownlee, who has been playing music since he was 14, was performing extensively with the Roosevelt Bean Blues Band when he helped form Four on the Floor.

“It was too much traveling, I was just looking to put together a small band,” he said. “To have a good time and make people dance.”

Brownlee rounded up the rest of the band through friendships and sightings at local shows. The name was suggested by then-drummer Jimmy Watts, who has since passed.

“We all figured, ‘That's good, let's try that,'” Brownlee said. “When you start throwing names around, something just kind of happens.”

Over the years the lineup has shifted. Currently, Brownlee, singer Scott Trudell, guitarist Dave Johnson and drummer Brian Welch enjoy performing at small bars and outdoor parties. Four on the Floor is looking to get another crowd moving when they perform at Morris' Grill this weekend.

“We'll play quite a variety of anything to make people tap their feet,” Brownlee said. “It's fun.”
