There's no doubting that Weedsport has produced a plethora of talented volleyball players throughout the years.

So it's quite an honor when head coach Sandy Donahue speaks so highly of Heidi Robinson, The Citizen's volleyball player of the year.
“I believe she's the top all-around player that has come out of Weedsport in a very long time,” Donahue said.
It's hard to argue, especially with the numbers that Robinson produced.
She played in 83 games and led the Warriors with 80 aces and 185 assists. Robinson was second on the team with 95 kills and third with 44 digs.
Robinson's improvement from her junior year was evident - she only had 49 aces last season - but she diverts all praise sent her way.
“I couldn't have done it without my teammates,” Robinson said. “I love this team so much, they were the best teammates I could have asked for.”
Robinson led the Warriors back to the Section III Class C-2 playoffs where they lost in the semifinals. In the season-ender, Robinson finished with six kills, six assists, five aces and four digs in a loss to Dolgeville.
The Warriors also won their first-ever regular season league title.
Robinson has been a part of a successful tradition of winning at Weedsport, and has played along side some tremendous athletes, such as last seasons' player of the year, Ryann Lamphere. So when Donahue says that Robinson is one the best, it resonates.
“It's so exciting to hear her say that,” Robinson said. “I mean I looked up to those girls and to even be just as good as them, I'm honored for that.”
Robinson's years of high school volleyball are over, but she will go on to Niagara University in the fall. Though Niagara is Division I in volleyball, Robinson plans to play on a club team.
“I don't think I will be away too long from the game,” she said.
