When the governor was sworn in, how come tax dollars are used for various religious leaders to speak and God's name is used several times, but our children cannot mention God or have religious people speak at any school functions? How come?
Like the emperor with no clothes story, The Citizen is just ignoring the fact that they took away the conservative Two Cents column, they took away the conservative writer and didn't replace Judy Ducayne, and Guy Cosentino is getting more and more ridiculously liberal, pro-Democrat Party locally, and the conservative letters are getting scarcer and scarcer. It's a serious problem here that nobody seems to care anything about.
Why is it that the city would like us to be responsible for our trash to look neat and tidy --- can't their employees do the same? I understand that they are not paid much, but who is?
Now that he has the nomination clinched, and is looking to appeal to the rest of America, Obama is trying to distance himself from that and those who have helped him so much. Go figure!
I was watching Greta Van Sustern interviewing Bill Clinton. He wants back in that White House so bad! Wow!
Two Cents will be updated online as new submissions are called or e-mailed. To contribute new Two Cents items, please call 253-5311 ext. 292 or e-mail twocents@lee.net.

This capitalism stuff is great isn't it?
The top executives at Bear Stearns get to keep their billion dollar bonuses since they now don't have to declare bankruptcy.
Nothing like privatizing profits and socialising the losses. (that means WE pay for it when they screw up, but don't get anything when they make a killing, for those who can't figure it out)
I am so sick of the greedy scumbag "free market" (what a cruel joke, eh?) republicans who think of noone but themselves, and their sycophants who are delusional, it makes me want to scream. "

stevedallas--I never bring up my profession in my editorial letters, so I don't connect the two anyway. I don't act as a spokesman for my company, only myself, and that's the way it should be. "

that is exactly my opionion/gripe!
Everyone here says or blames the President but it is NOT, nor ever has been just ONE person.
Congress is worse than ever-they get to add all the "pork" without the Presidents approval or the citizens votes-then we all wonder how did this happen and taxes have gone up?
Porks, need to be a public vote!
Have you ever watched Congress today on TV? Some are sleeping in their chairs?! We are paying bucks for their salaries and they sleep on the job?
Some never show to "work" -we still pay them for it! If it was you or I--our bosses would FIRE us. Shouldn't we be able to FIRE them without waiting for a term to end?
What this country really needs is a whole new congress--ours is not working FOR the people! "

Also you can't be a racist if you don't like someones politics. Racism refers to the race you are born to not your politics. DUH! "

On a different note, which pertains to Karl with a K, were you a supporter for Al Gore when he ran? I hope not. Being you are a musician and knowing Tipper Gore was the "queen" of the PMRC. I am not starting a fight, but just curious to know where you stand. I used to have a video of the hearings. What a crock of manure. I mostly saved it because of what Zappa said to defend censorship, but after really listening to it, I saw where it was headed. Just a little food for thought. I would like to pick your brain on that. Karl, I would rather discuss music with you than politics. And You??? "

I have a great friend for over 20+ years-I would never turn my back on her for any "in the news" or "my face on camera"....
These politicians, especially Obama right now-is faking his own agenda. He is hurting himself by denial, lies, and cover ups. Plus adding "doing/saying" things out of HIS Norm.
If wants me to believe he is sincere in changing America, (which he can't do without Congress), then he needs to stand his ground..
If he cant stand his ground with the media or the voters then he will not be able to stand up to Congress therefore, is NOT ready to lead. "

Actually, I believe McCain and the hawks don't really care WHO we're fighting, as long as we're just fighting SOMEBODY!
If we're not in Iraq, the Balkans, or Russia, they'll invent a reason to invade like, Ecuador or Bali or the like!
These people need killin' to make them feel like men--pathetic wimps! "
karl L wrote on Mar 18, 2008 8:34 PM:
Personally, I don't give a rat's A** about Iraq--theyve had enough time to sort out a political compromise, and if they can't get their ship together, I don't want to have to babysit them--AND PAY FOR IT!--for the next 100 years!!
Besides, you hypocrite---THERE'S ALREADY GENOCIDE IN SUDAN--WHY AREN'T YOU CRYING ABOUT GOING IN THERE TOO???!!
Farmer's Gal--no problem, honey, just wanted to put that it there. I still love ya! =)

My apologies, Karl -- I wouldn't have known who you were in the other part of your life if you hadn't written about it right here yourself, so I figured you didn't care. My mistake. But I certainly understand about wanting a measure of privacy when there are people very quick to attack. Again, my sincere apologies. "

How many Catholics or Baptists out there do you think either don't fully know, care, or DO know but don't follow their Church policies?
YOu know what I would wish for America?
That people would just stop paying attention to Church and Religion in politics--where the HELL has it gotten this country in he last 8 years when the Church has basically set up shop in the Oval Office?
IN the toilet we're in now!
VOTE CHANGE!!! Vote COMPETENCY!!!
BTW the answer to comment #1 is, because kids are young and impressionable, and should not be indoctrinated to certain creeds in school--which is invariably what happens when you get Religion taught in schools. It's not the same as a non-denominational prayer or oath; besides, to some degree it's merely ritualistic tradition. "
