Recently, I learned that there was a family in our community that was having financial difficulties: former school board member Kent Brandstetter and his family. It saddened me to see anyone struggle to pay their bills. I know that Mr. Brandstetter has always been a voice for the people especially when he held a seat on the Auburn school board. He always emphasized the financial difficulties that many of us felt. These constant yearly tax increases of 6 percent are draining all of our pockets.

At a time when the Brandstetter family is obviously struggling, I am sending a donation as a thank you for all the years they have contributed to the community.

Governor Spitzer has proposed legislation bill No. 165-5829, which includes a law exonerating a doctor from prosecution if a woman dies during an abortion procedure. The doctor would not be held accountable for the mother's health, even if it is his or her fault.

About Governor Spitzer. Is it really that newsworthy? Has his confessed marital infidelity actually robbed him of all the skill he had before this revelation? That is doubtful.
