A Weedsport family, including a 5-year-old who is to be among the Red Cross Real Hero honorees on Tuesday, lost its home to a fire Monday, the Cayuga County Chapter of the American Red Cross reported.
The Weedsport Fire Department and the Red Cross Disaster Action Team assisted the family at the scene. The family will stay at a local hotel and be provided funds for purchasing clothing and other needed items.
One of the home's residents is Tristan Morgan, a 5-year-old who is being recognized for making a 911 call to help his mother after she collapsed. The Real Heroes ceremony takes place Tuesday.
Further information on the fire was not immediately available.
