AURORA - After such a long winter, and with spring just around the corner, children are getting antsy to get together and have some fun.
And members of the Aurora Preschool believe they found the perfect solution in their annual fundraiser.

“Our school is dependent upon support from parents and the community,” said Karla Leybold-Taylor during the sixth-annual Cabin Fever Festival, held Saturday evening in the Sommer Center building at Wells College in Aurora. “We really appreciate all of the support.”

Leybold-Taylor is the president of the board of directors for the Aurora Preschool, which is held in the basement of the United Ministry Church of Aurora.

The school gives parents the opportunity to choose between a two-, three- or four-day school week.

With prizes donated from local merchants and families, such as horseback riding lessons, cases of wine and artwork, the festival was a big hit with children and adults alike.

Leybold-Taylor said that the school has been very appreciative of the community and family support during the past six years of the festival.

“Our school is made up of a volunteer board,” she said. “We also offer a scholarship of up to 50 percent for families in need of financial support.”

The volunteer board is composed of parents, teachers, and community members.

Fishing in the duck pond, or happily jumping in the bounce house kept eager children happy throughout the three-hour event.

Festival foods and ice cream was available, as well.

This year, according to Leybold-Taylor, the class has its maximum of 15 students ranging in ages of 3 to 5 years.

Students of the preschool come from many towns throughout the Southern Cayuga area.

Music for the event was donated by The Bottom Feeders, whose members played the event free of charge.

" Thanks, you two! You're the best. I really appreciate your kind words, coming as they have from two people totally unrelated to me in any way whatsoever. "

" Leybold-Taylor Rocks! She is the best thing to happen to this preschool in a long time. Just think what this world would be like with a hundred people like her. "
