Everybody is a little bit Irish on St. Patrick's Day. This weekend, why not eat, drink and dance a little Irish, too?

Several events will commemorate St. Patrick's Day this year in Auburn.
Sacred Heart Church will host an Irish themed dinner party Friday in celebration of the greenest day of the year.
The event will include a corned beef and cabbage buffet dinner catered by Balloons Restaurant, Guinness and cheddar hour, music and more.
Also, the money raised through the night will go to St. Joseph School.
“The nice thing would be if people get in the spirit for it, and maybe even come dressed in green,” said Cindy Clark, of the St. Joseph's parent's association, which organized the dinner.
“We would really like people to get involved in the dinner once they are there.”
Live Irish and Celtic music will be provided by vocalist Peg Dolan, and harp tunes will add atmosphere during appetizers.
There will also be an auction, during which attendees will be able to bid on various outings, brunches and other goodies, Clark said.
“It is going to be a full evening. People are going to get a lot for $20,” she said, referring to the price of admission.
Cheryl Foster, who also helped organize the dinner, said the event will cater to an adult crowd, though younger people will be present. But hopefully, everyone will get into the spirit of the night, she said.
“It doesn't matter what you are. The important thing is what you will end up being, and we're going to have everyone Irish by the end of the night,” said Foster, who wanted to theme the fundraiser around St. Patrick's Day because of her own Irish heritage.
St. Patrick's Day is also a great time to celebrate the changing season, Foster added.
“This is a time of year when the weather is getting nicer, and people want to get out more,” she said. “This will be a good way to come out, have fun and celebrate.”
And while the people who show up are sure to have a good time, they can also know that they did a good deed, Clark said. Fundraisers like these allow St. Joseph School to keep tuition down. The Auburn private school educates pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students.
Some of the proceeds from this dinner will also go toward a specific goal - a new playground at the school.
“(Fundraisers) are extremely important ... because we don't get state aid,” Clark said. “Because of them, we are able to do some extra things for the school.”
