‘Mixed Paint' to feature 12 contemporary NY artists

The Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center will be ushering in the spring with a burst of color. “Mixed Paint: New Work by 12 Contemporary Painters” will welcome the season with a variety of painters from all over New York, and their various styles.
The exhibit will open March 8, with a reception March 9 featuring a gallery talk by Ludwig K. Stein, one of the showcased artists. Stein, of Syracuse, is a professor at Syracuse University and he will discuss his style of painting exhibited in his work, “Popsicle Toes.”

Other artists will include: Mary Begley of Buffalo; Stephen Carlson of Syracuse; Rachel Harms of Skaneateles; Melissa Johnson of Marcellus; Nick Lamia of Brooklyn; David Mann of New York City; Christopher McEvoy of Brooklyn; Iona Park of Saratoga Springs; David Schirm of Buffalo; Robert Sherrill of Cortland and Kathleen Thum of Saratoga Springs.

The exhibit will showcase painters working in a variety of contemporary non-representational styles, such as expressionism and minimalism.

“It will be a colorful, fun spring show,” said Stephanie Schuster, assistant director of the Schweinfurth Art Center.“People can come see the work of emerging and established artists.”

The exhibit runs through April 19.
