The Italian Heritage Society is preparing to honor its patron saint, St. Joseph, with a special Mass, celebration and dinner in Auburn.
As part of its mission to continue the observance of a variety of cultural traditions, the Italian Heritage Society, with the cooperation of the parish of St. Francis of Assisi, will dedicate the St. Joseph's celebration as the continuation of the 100th anniversary of the founding of St. Francis parish in Auburn in 1907.
The event will begin with Mass, celebrated by the Rev. Eugene DoBosz, followed by a dinner buffet and music by “Sons of Frank” (Mucedola) with Gilda Brower and “Rocco and Paolo.”
During the evening, St. Joseph's bread will be blessed and distributed along with a variety of pastries.
The Italian Heritage Society was formed to preserve and promote Italian Heritage and culture, especially in light of the diminished importance placed on St. Joseph's Day because of its nearness to St. Patrick's Day.
